AFGHAN DOG "KABUL" WHO WON OVER AMERICANS

One of the most heartwarming dog stories to come out of Afghanistan is that of Kabul, a stray dog who lived near the U.S. embassy in Kabul during the war.

Kabul became a beloved companion to many of the embassy staff, who fed and cared for him.

He would often follow them to work, waiting patiently outside the gates until they returned at the end of the day.

One day, a suicide bomber targeted the embassy, causing extensive damage and killing several people.

Amid the chaos and destruction, Kabul emerged unscathed and began to comfort the wounded and traumatized survivors.

Over time, Kabul became a fixture at the embassy, providing comfort and companionship to the staff and serving as a symbol of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.

Eventually, a U.S. diplomat named John D. Podesta became so taken with Kabul that he arranged to bring him back to the United States.

Kabul became the first Afghan dog to be brought to America, and he was welcomed with open arms by Podesta and his family.

Today, Kabul is living out his days in comfort and security, a testament to the unbreakable bond that can develop between humans and animals, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
